Greetings,

Reported catalytic converter thefts more than quadrupled from 14,433 in 2020 to 65,398 in 2021, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) – and this year will likely be no different.

Selective and your local agency want to help you prevent catalytic converter theft – typically involving trucks, buses, and vans – so you can avoid costly downtime and potentially thousands of dollars in repairs.
Secure Your Fleet
You and your drivers can reduce your risk of theft late at night by following these fleet security guidelines, developed by Selective’s Safety Management team:
Store vehicles in a garage*
Secure lots with fencing and good lighting
Post “Property Under Surveillance” signage
Monitor your property with security cameras
Weld catalytic converters to your vehicles with etched VIN or license plate numbers
Install security devices, such as “cat straps” or “cat clamps”
For additional guidance, contact us at SafetyManagementServices@selective.com.

We’re here to help you keep your drivers and fleet vehicles safe on and off the road.

Thank you for choosing to Be Uniquely Insured,
Vice President, Director of Safety Management
*Follow all safety protocols when storing vehicles with special hazards indoors, for example, propane tanks
